For lodging, we highly recommend AirBnb.
AirBnB Oahu has incredibly good rates with units in Waikiki and Diamond Head. The Makiki and Honolulu areas might be even more convenient being close to the tango marathon event locations.
The Zip Code is 96814

Conveniently close in Waikiki, the Ambassador Hotel Waikiki has good prices - averaging $150/night

The nearest hotels are the Pagoda Hotel, a bit dated but near the shopping center, also the Ala Moana Hotel next to Ala Moana Shopping Centre - Prices average $180/night.

Trivago is a good source for deals.

Transportation suggestions:
We now have BIKI rentals all over the city with complete bike racks and dozens of rentals at each station at major intersections and shopping/dining areas. Very near (across the street) are carshare stations as well.
